Overall, there was an increase in the amount of spending money on books of all nations. However, the expenditure on books in Germany was the highest in all the time surveyed.
Starting at point of 80 millions in 1995, the amount of money spent on books in Germany rose to 90 millions in 2001. During 6 years later, depsite of some minor fluctuations, the figure for Gemany continued to increase by over 7 millions, and reached a peak of approximately 100 millions in 2005.
French, Italian and Australian spent less on books than German. 55 millions and 50 millions spent on books in France and Italy respectively. Compared to figure for them, the amount of money spending on books in Australia was much lower, at 30 millions. Throughout the 1995-2003 period, there was a slight increase in the expenditure in France, at 60 millions. Meanwhile, the figure for Australia and Italy were the same point, at around 60 millions. After 2 years, Australia witnessed that the expenditure on books was simillar to the figure for France, at approximately 65 millions.
