Writing Style

Is there a term (name) that describes the writing style where the author writes like a person speaks? Say the character you are writting about has a heavy accent, and you are emmulating that accent through your text. Does this make sense?

devago Does this make sense? Yes. Mark Twain used this technique quite often, not to mention hundreds of other authors.

  • I don't know if there is a specific name for the technique, but I would call it "imitation of dialect".
