Could you kindly tell me if the sentences/sentence parts below are correct grammar and meaning wise?

In 1980 however, the proportion of women in part time education increased, the number reaching just above 800 which was below it in 1970, it declined for men.

Whereas 1000 men were studying in full time further education in 1970, there were only just above 800 male students in 1980.

It also explains whether they were studying part time or full time.

.... the number reaching/reaching to just above 800.

Coming to 1950, there was a slight rise.
