In the future, nobody will buy printed newspapers or books because they will be able to read everything they want online without paying. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?
It is argued that people’s habit to buy printed newspapers and books will no longer exist as they have the capacity to access the information online without any cost nowadays. From my perspective, I partly agree with this statement.
On the one hand, there are some reasons why Internet-based materials are getting more and more popular among readers. With many technological breakthroughs, several websites provide magazines and books in the form of ebooks or pdf. Therefore, the public are able to access the information for free whenever they want and in whatever the place. There is no need for them to care about the storage or how to bring it with them. A good example of this is The diplomat, an online platform with a great source of news about the politics and relation between countries all over the globe, which has great credibility and quality.
On the other hand, there is no way that traditional forms of storing information can be replaced by virtual forms. First of all, the readers still have to pay for an ebook in order to download it from a secured website, otherwise they may face some problems such as leaking personal data from some free platforms. Moreover, as a responsible citizen, people often try to buy the book and newspapers with the aim of supporting the writers. This is because a book contains years of author’s experience, not to mention their entire life. As a result, buying a book is also a way for the public to express appreciation and love toward them.
To conclude, thanks to advanced innovations, newspapers and books in virtual platforms have received more attention from the public but the traditional form can still maintain its popularity among the reader in the future.
