Writing out 10,000 Men

Is it right to hyphenate the number, say, 10,000 when referring to something, in this case men?:

They were worth more than an army of ten-thousand men.

Using hyphens is more of a matter of style than rules. I expect most style guides would advise against using a hyphen in this case.

I don't think it's necessary.
