Writing in EFL?

Hello. I would like to know from native English speakers if the expression 'writing in EFL [English as a Foreign Language]' sounds nice.

I have been looking for it on the Internet; in general, it is used with an additional noun, as in 'writing in EFL settings', 'writing in EFL context', 'writing in EFL classes', etc.

There are also many instances of 'writing in EFL', but I have been asking myself about it--is it really ok?

Thank you very much!

It sounds faintly odd to me, as if "EFL" is a different language.

Does 'EFL writing' sound better?

At least it seems more common, though there are a lot of combinations too ('EFL writing courses', 'EFL writing process', etc.).

Thank you again.

In all of your examples, EFL is used as a noun modifier.
The expression "writing in EFL" needs to be completed by the appropriate noun. It does not make sense otherwise.

No.
What do you actually want to say?

EFL students' writing (samples of text that EFL students have written)
EFL writing exercises (Exercise to use in an EFL classroom.)
EFL writing tests (Tests where EFL students need to show their writing skills.)

None of them.

'Writing" (noun) as the skill or the activity of producing pieces of writing, and EFL as English as a Foreign Language. That is, the practice of writing using English not as one's native language but as one's foreign language.

Thank you!

I have found the following title with "EFL writing":

The use of restructuring strategies in EFL writing: A study of Spanish learners of English as a foreign language

It is the title of a paper published in the Journal of Second Language Writing (Elsevier). Authors: Julio Roca De Larios, Liz Murphy, Rosa Manchon.

Thank you!

It is still a piece of text written in English, no matter if the author is a native speaker or not.
