The charts illustrate the primary reasons for travel and issues for public transportion in the US in 2009. Unit is measured in percentage.
Overall, the typical reason for travel was due to work and the price of travel was the primary issue that was most concerned when use public transportion. Whereas, the reason of visitting friends or relatives took the lowest rate and space for pedestrians took the least contribution for issues for travelling public.
In term of reason for travel, traveling for work took almost the half of contribution (49%). Personal reasons, shopping and social/recreation contributed to 19, 16, 10% respectively. And the reason for visitting friends/relatives got the lowest rate (6%)
The main reason for using public transportation was price of travel, reaching 36% and was more than nearly 2 times compared to reasons of aggressive drivers, highway congestion and safety concerns (14,17,19% respectively).
