Essay & Composition Writing

Writing ielts task 2: Task 2: Living In A Country Where You Have To Speak A Foreign Language Can Cause Serious Social Problems, As Well As Practical Problems To What Extent Do You Agree Or Disagree With This Statement?

It is true that many people argue that is better to communicate a foreign language in some countries but that problems can cause many different social effects. I completely agree with this view of both positive and negative reasons.

There are several negative reasons to prove that speaking another different language is a difficult task with people who are not fluent in the language of the country they are living in, and they have to use their body language to communicate. It is hard for them and others when they have to use the language, for more difficult communication situations at a public location like a supermarket or pharmacy, and especially at school or working place. It is a disadvantage for them in case working or studying with a language is not fluently. That would be affected by academic and working performance. Because language is a part of the culture and tradition, not mastering the language can discourage people from socializing and make them feel isolated from their surroundings.

Besides, I also would like to agree that using a foreign language still brings many benefits. The citizens have an open-mind knowledge about language is better to develop the economy and culture of that country. It will help people to approach science and technology to innovate creatively, quickly, and modernly. If you mastered the language barrier, social or practical problems would be handled because you can express your opinions and ideas. For example, Switzerland a country in Europe border the countries of France, Germany, Italy, and Austria. So the major language of this country is German and French, and other different languages all over the country. It will make Swiss communicate with many languages, and have many chances to develop and working with neighboring countries.

In conclusion, for both positive and negative reasons, I would argue that it will cause major problems social and practical if living in a country but citizens don't speak fluent foreign language.
