TOPIC: Some people believe that developments in the field of artificial intelligence will have a positive impact on our lives in the near future. Others, by contrast, are worried that we are not prepared for a world in which computers are more intelligent than humans. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.
In the fast-paced and highly integrated world, many individuals endorse the advancement in AI and deemed it an ultimate tool to satisfy human demand. Others claim that it can jeopardize the existence of human beings by replacing humans in all walks of life. Personally, I am both fascinated by the developments in AI and fully apprehensive about its ripple effects.
To begin with, supporters of AI might claim that the possible benefits of increasing intelligence in technology have been well-documented. First of all, it might mitigate the problem of human errors and steer clear of other issues ensuing from these errors. More specifically, these machines are programmed based on gathered information and algorithms, inevitably guaranteeing the chance of accuracy with a great degree of precision. For example, robots being developed shoulder the responsibility of auditing and other tasks that required complex calculations in some developed countries, such as Germany, the USA, UK, to name but a few.
This might be true on the surface but some individuals are concerned that the up-gradation in this area acts as a catalyst for the exponential booms in the unemployment rate. As AI is replacing the majority of repetitive tasks due to its precision and the ability to work 24/7, many manufacturers and businesses apply AI in their production lines. A lot of people will lose their job and struggle desperately to make ends meet, therefore, the poverty rate will rocket immensely, hindering the economic growth of the nations. Besides, it can act as a deterrent to human beings' development as humans rely heavily on its applications automating all kinds of work and are lazier to think outside the box. As robots become irrefutably more intelligent than humans, humans could plausibly lose control of AI when AI can be against humans, deeming us as one of its threats and wreaking havoc on our ecosystem.
All things considered, it is my strong belief that despite some significant benefits coming from AI, we should not ignore the danger ensuing from it.
