Essay & Composition Writing

Writing gives you pleasure (Free composition)

0I hope I haven't mistaken the genre - can I say Free composition when you have no strict rules and just write a text where you define the structure? The title is also my idea 05002br

00Please, correct ANY and EVERY mistake you notice, no matter what it s - grammatical, structural, an error in word choice, or propose a way to tell something in a better way. I accept all kinds of criticism; there isn't a purpose for not doing so - I'm not a native speaker; I could even say that even in my own language I make mistakes sometimes. I'd be sorry for everyone trying to learn it! 05100 Anyway, here's my 'essay', 'article' or I don't quite know what.02br

00When you are alone, when you have nothing to do (or you have, but you're quite reluctant to do it) it'll do you good if you just sit and write something – no matter what, everything that pops in your mind: put it down!02br

01i00I, particularly, love writing.02i00 [*Is this right? Microsoft Word tells me that this is a fragment or something…*] But I prefer writing on an interesting subject, not Literature, especially if the author and the work aren’t to my liking! Maybe you have to understand what you are writing about; that’s why I think Literature isn’t interesting to me – at least those authors whom we study at school.02br

00So, the reason I am writing now, on 00, is that I’m very tired and kind of disgusted with life. I’m sick of all those problems on 01i00Stereometry02i00 [*is this correct, or should I say Solid Geometry?*] waiting to be solved. Besides, an exam awaits me. But, though, I’ll sit an English exam, too. So I thought it would be useful to write something down – anything. What to write – that’s a difficult question! Sometimes it’s harder to write on an abstract subject (as mine is, just writing stuff) than a concrete one. But one ought not try and do only the easy things: life isn’t easy, is it? And it’s even more difficult trying to imagine what it would have been if something hadn’t happened; what it would be if something else happens. One has to prevent mistakes, so that one’s future is bright. And it’s even better to keep out of new mistakes, rather than try to correct old ones.02br

00If you’re trying to guess whether my situation is the same, you’ve guessed right. I sometimes regret past actions and events and feel miserable. But now I think that it wasn’t worth the time spent thinking about the past – life goes on and we have to do so, so that in the future we won’t regret our actions now. And, guess what, all these thoughts were born by my writing. If I hadn’t started writing now, I wouldn’t have reflected upon such an important issue. And I hope that in the future I will read this essay (or whatever kind of composition is) and I will tell myself: ‘On that particular day I didn’t just mark time; on the contrary – I expressed my thoughts in writing!’ Yes, why stay aimlessly at the computer just browsing forums or, what is worse, CHATTING! If I may branch out a bit, I used to spend time at the computer just chatting and doing nothing else, and that was for years – nearly seven! As I promised myself not to regret the past, I’ll stop now and go on writing about the major subject, which is – writing!02br

00For me, writing is a type of conversation with yourself or a kind of way to ‘talk’ to a vast group of people. In this situation, I write this essay, so that I can relax and, also, to share my ideas with other people. It’s true that I like what I’m writing about – and that’s why I feel relaxed. I write about everything that occurs to my mind; I don’t restrict my brain to some particular thought. I think that this ‘exercise’ can be done by anyone: you let your mind flow, you write about something you like, maybe 01b00someone02b00 you like, or, maybe, dislike and want to express your anger in writing rather than in actions.02br

00Leave for a moment all the gizmos and gadgets! Spend some time doing something, that has been done years before we were born and what, I hope, will continue to be done until the end of Time – writing. And don’t let that be like a punishment, because your TV’s broken, you don’t have headphones for your MP3 player or your PC doesn’t work. Let your eyes and ears rest from the radiation of the PC- and hi-fi equipment: it’s time to set your brain working, especially if you can’t sleep – a computer won’t help you get more tired, it’ll only tire your eyes, not your brain – I wonder if my brain has worked when I was chatting all day long!02br

00I’m rather sorry for being born in an age when high technology is all the rage – people forget each other; they prefer writing emails rather than go out. I hope that next generation won’t be like that, but as if I picture everything in my mind. Three kids meet accidentally at school:02br
02br
02br
02br
00-00 00Let’s go out – says one of them.02br
02br
00-00 00Sure. Let’s play near the block.02br
02br
00-00 00I’m there. Bye, folks!02br
02br
00-00 02br
02br
00One wouldn’t be surprised if one hears it years ago. But the other thing I imagine is three kids, again, meeting by accident:02br
02br
02br
02br
00-00 00Let’s go out – says one of them.02br
02br
00-00 00Nah, I can’t. I’ll play Counter Strike. Or maybe I’ll be in Skype. Don’t know quite, but I’ll stay at the computer for sure!02br
02br
00-00 00What about you? Do YOU want to go out?02br
02br
00-00 00Huh? What did you say? – asks the third kid, listening to his MP3 player. – Ah, never mind, I’m in a hurry. I have a meeting at the chatroom. See you there. We might have a chat.02br
02br
02br
02br
00It’s so nasty. Everybody plays with his/her GSM, listens to music and doesn’t pay attention to the others. That’s because many of us, our generation, are spoilt. I, too, think that I’m spoilt in some ways. But I don’t see what I can do about it, except to live my life and go on. Those, who are gadget-maniacs, will also lead there lives the way they want. But what would they say when I suggest them to write something, to solve a problem... they would say: ‘Are you crazy? Why write, I can type!’ or maybe, they would write something with so many mistakes in their own language that one would hardly recognize in what language they are writing.02br
02br
02br
02br
00There is much more to write about on this issue – I’m not so descriptive; besides, I used the ‘stream of consciousness’ technique – only I can understand the connection between the ideas issued in this composition. Well, if you understand fully what I think, then lucky you! It’s time for me to finish – and I am very proud that I didn’t lose my time at the computer or at the TV, but I wrote, I made something, which is mine, my own work. You can be very proud, too! Try writing yourself, it won’t twist your arm!010id511id1

0Well, I really don't believe that I don't have mistakes or, if I really don't, the composition is worth a comment, isn't it? 05000 I hope that it isn't too long for you to read it all. If I were you, I wouldn't.

Writing is the art of capturing thoughts and placing them where anyone who can read can see them.

At its best, writing lets us examine our own thoughts. If we're honest enough with ourselves, we can even try to change how we think and what we think after reading our thoughts - because none of us are perfect.
