Writing cheque in 1200 pounds, which is correct?

I wonder if I write "one thousand and two hundreds pounds" on a cheque, would it still be ok?

Anonymous I wonder if I write "one thousand and two hundreds pounds" on a cheque, would it still be ok? It should be written with out "and", however if you have already written this I don't think the bank would refuse to cash it.

Not good English, but the bank will probably accept it.
