Some children think that some subjects such as mathematics and philosophy are too difficult for them to study at school, so they should be made optional rather than compulsory. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
It is true that a part of students find it difficult with branch of knowledge which is forced to learn at schools like mathematical or philosophic fields. I completely agree with the idea that these are hard to understand and there should be a respect to students’ discretion about what they want to learn.
There are a number of reasons why I do not support for being under an obligation to experience course of study. Firstly, the requirements of teachers on learners about these fields of knowledge are too enormous that pupils need much effort or skills to accomplish. A recent research has revealed that most teenagers in high schools are in stressed state and they are working under pressure because of the loaded education program. Secondly, these disciplines are not effective and practical enough to apply in daily life. The complicated formulas or academic topics will not be discussed on Friday parties or dates.
Apart from the disadvantages expressed above, I believe that optional working always bring to us a good result. It has been proven by scientists that young children who are allowed to be free and choose what they want to learn tend to develop in a natural way. Subjects which are concerned about by school pupils will make them feel interesting. Beside that, they will have chances to explore themselves and know more about their weakness and strength. For instance, Vietnamese juveniles who are in the final year often focus on studying the three subjects that they will take on the entrance examination.
In conclusion, my view is that mandatory subjects are not a good idea to help students gain knowledge due to the negative impacts on them , and a wide range of elective specialties should be offered to children.
