Dear Grammarians, are the sentences below grammatically correct? Thanks a lot.
(1) Both Jim Bishop and his mother's dreams came true.
(2) Both Jim Bishop's and his mother's dreams came true.
(3) Both Jim Bishop's dream and his mother's dream came true.
(4) Both the dreams of Jim Bishop and his mother came true.

(1) suggests that Jim Bishop came true (which makes no sense), and his mother's dreams came true.

One determiner can be used in a noun phrase, but not more than one. (There are exceptions, of course.).

You could use "the" if you re-arrange the sentence -- for instance, "The dreams of both Jim and his mother have come true."
