Although I personally don't like unneeded commas, you might feel a comma after the introductory clause was appropriate. (after "much"). Otherwise, it is OK.

Although I rarely pass up the opportunity to insert a comma, I would leave the sentence as it is Emotion: smile.

I don't find "putting diamond earrings into her ears" is the most natural way to see this. Perhaps simply "put on her diamond earrings." I had the silly picture of someone stuffing earrings into her ear canal.

And while I usually find myself in complete agreement with Wilpeter, in this case I can't find placing a comma there to be an improvement.

For the record, I did say I don't like commas where they aren't needed.
This was definitely one where I should have stuck to my rule.
And as far as putting earrings in one's ear. Men and women put them through their noses, so I wouldn't be shocked to see one in the ear. (I wear hearing aids in mine.)
