It is correct English. For clarity, you may wish to write "transistor radio", if that's what you mean. I like to capitalise "Moon" when it refers to Earth's satellite.

Obviously a simpler sentence is "We should not take the transistor (radio) or the compass". I guess there should be a contextual reason to use your version rather than this one.

I'm pretty sure the OP meant 'transistor'. Maybe they don't work in a lunar environment, as a compass would not. Of course, we can wait and see what the OP says.

Perhaps you are right, and perhaps it means "the transistor" generically rather than one individual transistor, which would be a bit weird. I had not seen the "Moon" addition when I wrote th

The problem is that when the astronauts landed on the moon, they must have had transistors in just about every piece of equipment they used there, so it's hard to imagine, in light of that, what the sentence really means.
