Is this a proper word that is applicable to the situation?

But, just a little other question,
shouldn't I use past tense(wrote in, as in this case) instead?
Because if I'm going to express the idea that a person mentioned in his/er book a certain matter, it should be, in my opinion, in past tense since the writer DID already

Past tense is not wrong, but Simple Present suggests more that the writer's opinion is current.

If the writer is known to have changed his mind, for example, Past tense would be better.
