Which one of the following sentences is more appropriate?
1. All members are asked to write their name on a piece of paper and drop it in a bowl.
2. All the members are asked to write their names on pieces of paper and drop them in a bowl.

Hi,
Either would probably be commonly understood.
I think #2 leaves a bit of a possibility that I can write 'Clive' on several pieces of paper and put them all in the bowl.
