It would be better to say "I hope you will reply to my sms"

I think my problem is that I don't know what sms stands for.

An SMS is a text message, from a mobile phone/cellphone.

So, Simple Message System? Or what?

"Short Message Service" according to Wikipedia. Apparently SMS is used more in European countries, whereas I thought it was an American term.

I don't think you would commonly use "write back" in this context. I would really recommend using "reply to my text/sms" instead. "Write back to my message" doesn't quite sound idiomatic to my ears, and I don't see why "sms" or "text" should be treated any differently.
