Globalization, which is the process of https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foreign_relations and integration among people, companies, and governments https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World, is often exclusively associated with worldwide economic integration and the emergence of a borderless global market. However, globalization also involves sweeping changes on the social, cultural and political terrains. While globalization is supposed to negatively affect cultural identities, it is believed to enhance the variety of culture. This following essay is going to shed some light on the reasoning of both sides.
On the one hand, globalization has a number of cultural drawbacks. First of all, demise of the traditional festivals is the major effect. The reality is that as the expansion of the cultural exchange and the western festival culture was introduced into some countries like Vietnam , more and more Vietnamese people have a special liking to those foreign festivals, and some traditional festivals of Vietnam’s national culture are possibly even forgotten. Such as Double Seven Festival and Valentine’s Day is similar but many Vietnamese people know how to do in Valentine’s Day, do not know to do in Double Seven Festival. The next disadvantage is limiting cultural innovation. In the production of a plenty of advanced high-end technologies imported from abroad, too much reliance on foreign science and technology makes human less focus on their work in the digestion and absorption and just follow the footsteps of other countries did not go beyond those. These are reflected in the process of globalization, the culture shows lack of innovation.
On the other hand, globalization contributes to diversify culture. As a result of globalization, many indigenous groups are being more widely exploited through the tourism industry. The increasing ease of access to these cultures by Western tourists allows for a greater interaction between the two which is not necessarily equal. Western tourists often view indigenous groups as quaint relics of the past that they can observe and report back on to their friends at home. At same time, show one country's traditional cultures to the world are another point. With the ever-accelerating process of globalization, foreign exchange and dissemination of South-East Asian culture rapidly, more and more foreigners are attracted to this culture unique charm. This shows also happens to be that “the more national, the world”, the harmonious thought of ancient culture, to solve the conflict of international relations at present stage, also has a great significance.
In conclusion, cultures may experience both negative and positive effect from globalization. However, from my point of view, cultural globalization bring about tremendous benefits which has a considerable meaning to every country in the world.
