Are both of (A) and (B) okay in the following sentences?

Jane [ (A) used to / (B) would ] wear a pink sweater.

According to my grammar book, (A) means regular habit while (B) irregular one. Is that true? Or, is there no difference between them?

"Jane would wear a pink sweater" may seem ambiguous or incomplete as a stand-alone sentence. With "would," you often need to include another past action to make it clear that you are talking about the past:

Jane would wear a pink sweater every time we went out.
