Would you say he is... or ...

1) Would you say that John is a genius, or highly intelligent?

Can't that sentence have two meanings:
a) Would you say either of those things, and if you would, which one?
The answer might be: No. I think he is just hard-working.

b) According to you, is John a genius or is he highly intelligent?
In this case the answer would either be: 'John is a genius.' or 'John is highly intelligent.'
