Would you please paraphrase it?

Hi

Would you please take a look at this text?

Even today the evaluation of profitability and performance of businesses focuses on indicators such as return on investment, assets or equity that exclude intangibles fom the denominator. Measures of price relatives (for example, price-to-book ratio) also exclude the value of intangible assets as these are absent from accounting book values.

Sorry, but I do not get the exact concept of the text and also the highlighted parts. I appreciate your help.

And one more thing; is this "denominator" the one in mathematics?

Regards,

Nesa

Nesa, Whenever you see a term that you don't understand, you should go to the back of the text book (index) and find the definition. Do the same for any other words that you don't understand in the sentence or sentences. If you didn't read that in a text book, use the internet.
