Hi everybody and sorry to ask too much-
I am reading some text about branding which I don't get some parts. One of them is brought below. Would you please look at it and tell me what is going on? I really appreciate it.
Name changes following mergers can be highly charged events, and closer communication with all stakeholder groups may help ease the transition. In the case of Diagio, a name that has now "bedded down", the company should have explained why it had decided to adopt a neutral name for the new holding company and issued firm reassurances regarding famouse trading names that it would use.
Diagio, like Aviva, an insurance business, and Altria, is strictly a holding company name (as was the unfortunate Consignia, a name briefly adopted by the Post Office and now consigned to history). These names are not intended for "public consumption" _although a mischievous press made great play of post offices becoming "consignias"_ so clarity is paramount; the rationale for change must be communicated to all stakeholder groups.
There are some underlined and an italic, which were the most problematic. And there are two "post office", what the meanings are?
