Would you please correct my English? ( Mar. 28 )

Hello. I wrote two dialogues. Would you check them, please?

No. 1

M: Now let's decide which refrigerator to buy.

F: When I think of [ about ] my kitchen layout, we have to buy one

with doors that open from the left.

M: OK. This one has double doors. It's perfect, isn't it?

No. 2

M: When did you live [ were you living ] in New York?

F: I moved [ went ] there when I was five, and came back to Japan

when I was 13.

M: No wonder you speak English very fluently.

Thank you. kenta

Overall, they are good. Here are some suggestions: 1) Using "my kitchen layout" and "we have to buy" is a little strange. If both people own the kitchen, it would be better to write "our kitchen layout".

  • If F only owned the kitchen (maybe M is a salesperson), then you would write "I have to buy".
  • Or, the original sentence would be right if F is calling the layout his/her own, but F and M will buy the doors.
