Would you please check my compostion?

Hi.

Different anthropologists define culture in their own ways. For example, Murdock names 900 odd categories of human behavior. Edward Tyler, another renowned anthropologist, thinks of culture as a complex whole composed of knowledge, belief, art, morals, etc. that an individual obtains as a member of the society. The most common belief for culture is that culture is the entire behavior someone learns in a social setting.

Now, it is clear that every particular culture has its own specific total shared way of life. Consequently, we see differences in the material and spiritual world of every individual culture. Cultural anthropology plays an important role in finding the growth of humanity from savagery through barbarism to civilization. Cultural anthropologists try to study past and present cultures by means of linguistics, archaeology, and ethnology. Learning the language of a different nation necessitates the acquisition of that culture as well.

Wherever there is a society, there inevitably must be a culture. Some societies, such as "the Tasaday", are so small that they only share a single culture. On the other hand, some societies, such as those in the United States or India, are so large that a variety of cultures call them their homes. Yet, their similarities are as important as their differences.

Nevertheless, there are some factors that are universal among all cultures. For instance, in all cultures correct behavior is encouraged by rewards and punishments. There are also some common taboos within different cultures. In all over the world, politicians try to secure their dominant positions by controlling the minds of the people. These and some other factors seem to coexist in different cultures through out time.

Intercultural communication nowadays seems to be necessary for different cultures to interact effectively. Ned Seelye, the author of "Teaching culture" lists six skills for one to improve his/her intercultural communication. The first skill is to be curious about a different culture and sympathetic towards its members, which probably clears the way for the other skills.

As the final thought, we should bear in mind that every individual person leaves an effect on the society they live in. People usually shape their dominant culture by their thoughts and actions. However, anthropologists will never give up speculation about the concept of culture.
