Hello dear community,
My Name is Tobias and I am from Germany. I love the English language and want to apply to a pre-graduate program in Oxford, taking place in Summer 2011. Would you thus mind to see through my brief statement I am applying with? I might have made some sentences much too complicated.

----
As a person being extremely interested in history and politics, I would like to take part in the Oxbridge Academic Programs. My name is Tobias ******* and I am currently 15 years old, being 16 at the start of the program. Politics as my hobby developed when I was at the age of eleven. Particularly fascinated by the 2005 election, I decided to learn more about the political system and hence I early discussed with adults and classmates about politics. Today, I am member of the Social democratic Party of Germany (SPD) and have a very expanded knowledge of German politics as well as international relations, if I might say that.
Being half-German and half-Polish (and able to speak both fluently), I always considered myself as an European, who lives currently in Berlin, Berlin, Germany. I strongly stand up for an united and self-conscious Europe without internal borders. This may, however, be a very distant expectation. That said, there are always small steps one can take towards further European Integration. In November 2010, I took part in the so-called “SIMEP” (Simulation Europäisches Parlament, simulation of the European Parliament), where I had to represent the Conservatives (particularly the EPP), whose chairman I have been. Currently, I am reading political classics as Karl Marx or The Clash of Civilization by Samuel P. Huntington – a book I am highly interested in. Moreover, a variety of political projects have been started in the internet by me, the most popular of them being the Virtual Nation “Meltanía” (
http://www.meltania.de ).
My school is the *****************, currently one of the best high schools of Berlin and probably of Germany as well. Core Subjects I have chosen are Political Sciences and English. However, my main interests besides politics are history (especially recent European history
[1]) and geography. I enjoyed some economical education as well inasmuch as I am familiar with the basics of economics, for example the law of demand and supply. Being compulsory subjects at our school, I am also attending Ancient Greek and Latin classes.
However, besides school and politics, I have several other hobbies. For example, I play the piano since 2008 and attend extracurricular Spanish classes.
I assume that the Oxbridge Academic Program will bring me further knowledge of the courses I am interested in, that being matched with an intensive practice of the English language which I have to use in my English advanced classes, of course. As my future aim is to become settled in national or European politics, advanced knowledge of English is essential. Moreover, it is my dream to go to Oxford University. Thus, the program could give me both an insight of the university and the application processes.
I certainly can contribute a lot to the program – as mentioned before; I might bring in new ideas and perspectives of international politics. Certainly I will reflect current problems and political issues from foreign positions, that is from German or Polish point of view. Moreover, I would describe myself as polite and helpful – I have social problems neither at school nor at home.

[1] That came from reading the classic „The Second World War“ by Winston S. Churchill. After having read this overwhelming biography, I developed my interests in World War II.
[2] Please also note the recommendation written by my English teacher; it is being sent by mail and may arrive in one or two weeks.
Thank You in advance.
