Would you explain the nuance between "i'm proud of you" and "i'm proud for you"?

i guess i understand the nuance of preposition "of" and "for".
but sometimes i amnot sure about it when i see the sentenses that "i'm proud (of , for) you, i'm nice (of, for) you". It's too difficult to explain it on Website. if you can do it, i'd really know the difference of the nuance of them. i could understand well if u show me the specific situations.
thanks for reading.

There is no single 'nuance'. Both prepositions have multiple uses (according to one dictionary, 'of' has 17 definitions and 'from' has 7, but that hardly suggests their range of use) and several of those overlap. I don't think nuances will help you, though, since your example sentences exhibit none, but take only one preposition each: I'm proud of you.

  • Just keep in mind that you must learn how each preposition collocates with individual adjectives.

ljswaveI'm nice to you.
I do nice things for you. I do things that please you.

Similarly,

You're nice to me. ~ You do things that please me.
Tom is not nice to his sister. ~ Tom does not do things that please his sister.
They are nice to us. ~ They do things that please us.
