Would you explain the difference of the meaning of two sentences below?

#1- The bag is of good quality
#2-The bag is good quality.

Are they in grammatical sentences?

We sometimes use "good quality" as though it were a compound adjective:
This is a good quality bag!

so Both of them are used as the almost same meaning. I was wondering it could be used as the same meaning.
#1 - This drink is for free.
#2 - This drink is free
I don't think they have the different nuances, Haven't they?

To my ear, there's no difference in meaning or nuance, but #2 is better style and higher register than #1.
