Would you explain about this?

#1- He insisted buying a car.
#2- He insisted to buy a car.
#3- He insisted on buying a car.

I'd like to know the difference of nuance among #1,2 and 3. in detail.

Top answer

Only #3 is natural. If the subject of "buy" is different, then use a that-clause. He insisted that we buy a car.

Can #1,2 be used and make sense totally?
I have thought #1 make sense though not grammatical. #2 can't make sensen and is wrong exppression based on the nuance of both gerund and infinitive..
I'd like to know your thinking about it.

No. They are not correct.
ljswaveI have thought #1 make sense though not grammatical.
It's almost pointless to rack your brain asking if an ungrammatical expression makes sense.

Make your statements grammatical first; then ask if they make sense.
