Would you consider someone such as I?

Hi,
I would never say this, but I don't know how to explain it, nor can I find it clearly addressed on the web.
Of course "someone like me" is correct, and "someone who is dumb, such as I am" is correct.

Is "someone such as I" acceptable?

Thanks. - A.

Yes. Thanks.

But of course "like" is off the table - except for the Christmas song, I Wonder As I Wander.

It seems on the borderline of acceptability to my ear. I have no explanation.

Maybe it should be ... such as myself.

It is a metaphor meaning something that sounds horrible.

Thanks for the ref, CJ. I must learn to search more diligently -- or wait til Google becomes absolutely perfect.
Unfortunately the case involved "such as I." I corrected it to "like me," but the student didn't take the hint.
I'm reluctant to tell him it's incorrect without knowing that it is. - A.

I haven't actually stated an opinion worth agreeing with.
My suggestion of "myself" was not serious; it was a direct reference to the material found at the link.

OK, well I agree with whatever material you found within the link then! As a Brit that is how I would express myself if using such a phrase, right or wrong! I am more likely to say, using

Hi, Avangi
Were you thinking something like, "Off the charts!"? Yes, exactly.
