Would you change anything here?

Hi!

Would you change anything in this sentence? Are there any mistakes?

Violation of a labor agreement:
The employee, without a justified reason, is late for work more than 15 (fifteen) minutes twice in a one calendar month or the employee, without a justified reason, is late for work more than 1 (one) hour in one calendar month. The Employee may not consider a traffic-jam or unpredictable schedule of a public transport as a justified reason.

Thank you! Emotion: smile

Top answer

Employees will be penalized for tardiness if, without justifiable reason, in any calendar month they are twice more than fifteen (15) minutes late or once more than one (1) hour late. When planning their routines, employees should take into account the possibility of ordinary delays in traffic and public transport, as these are not acceptable excuses for late arrival.

I suggest the following.

The Employee, without a valid reason, is more than 15 (fifteen) minutes late for work twice in a calendar month or more than 1 (one) hour late for work once in a calendar month. A traffic jam is not a valid reason, nor is the unpredictable scheduling of public transport.

There has to be some conditional sense (Employees are late if ....) in your suggested first sentence, and I don't think it's quite there.

The title
Violation of a labor agreement:
suggested to me that what followed was intended as a definition. ie a violation consists of the following.
That's why I didn't change the overall focus.

My own focus may have been too narrow.
