Would you be so kind to correct with a sentence

I realized that you should not do/be doing something for such a long time, that you do not take honest/sincere pleasure in/in doing.

the main points I am not sure about:
not do/not be doing
just take pleasure in or in doing?
honest/sincere pleasure which sounds better?

Thank you for your help.

Thank you for your help Mister Micawber.

Does it have to be "... take pleasure in it." or just "...take pleasure in." The it sounds a bit weird, doesn't it?

Could someone tell me if "honest pleasure" or "sincere pleasure" sounds better?

Thank you

The 'it' is grammatically essential, however weird it sounds to you.

'Pleasure' is neither 'honest' nor 'sincere'. You could say '...take any pleasure from it'.

Thank you very much Rover_KE.

I would not have thought the it is necessary, so thanks a lot.

I think this is something foreigners get wrong all the time. I honestly cannot remember anyone saying this expression with it at the end, neither at school nor at university.
