A: You would think he would’ve helped their parents with moving their stuff to the new apartment yesterday but he didn’t.
B: You would think he would visit his parents once in a while but he doesn’t.
First of all, are sentences A and B correct? I understand that the first bold woulds in the sentences are second conditional woulds with “you would think if somebody asked you” but what about the second “would” in sentence A and “would’ve” in sentence B? Are they hypothetical woulds? Can somebody please explain the use of second would/would’ve in the sentences? Thank you.
