When it comes to language, it is seen as a communication tool. However, it is not just a tool; it is more likely an organ, which will grow or die. This essay outlines how fewer languages can make people’s lives easier, but this phenomenon can not be underestimated.

Indeed, people can live easily, conveniently and harmoniously because of less language barriers. It can avoid misunderstanding and conflicts when studying or working with people from different places. People can easily share research and information around the world. It could serve to promote international understanding and peace. Meanwhile, the government can introduce new policies or laws to the public more effectively and economically and is not required to spend money translating various languages to ensure everyone can realize them. What above mentioning can prove how fewer languages will make life easier.

On the other hand, it does not mean this phenomenon is not important and can be ignored. There are concerns about extinct languages in terms of cultural diversity. According to the research conducted by United Nations, there would be nearly 3,000 languages disappearing by the year 2100. Undoubtedly, nationality and culture attached to those dead languages will disappear as well. Instead, some languages bring their own culture to dominate the world. The whole human history includes many different cultures, losing many of which will increase the difficulties to realize human history, same as how hard it is to understand some disappeared ancient civilizations.

In conclusion, I agree that fewer languages can help people’s lives easier due to less communication barriers. However, I think this issue is vital and can not be neglected. People should consider it more carefully.
