Q1. Do you say this kind of sentence? "I would rather (that) you did it today."

Is it correct? If so, what's the meaning of it?


Q2. "I would rather (that) you be my brother."

I'd leave out "that": "I'd rather you did it today." I would probably use the subjunctive, being an American: "I'd rather you do it today."
