Would or can?

Hi,

Would you blame me? Can you blame me?

Which is commonly used? Is there any subtle difference at all? Is 'can' more emphatic than 'would'?

There is quite a difference. They are used in different situations.

e.g. "would" is not used in this context.

1. I admit it. I cheated on the exam. Can you blame me? If I failed I would have been suspended from university and my father would have been very very angry.
