Would not have been?

Dear Everyone,

If I want to express that the people the speaker was talking to always paid attention, do I say

I never noted/observed that the audience would not have not been paying attention or would have been bored.
or
I never noted/observed that the audience did not pay attention / were not paying attention or was bored.

Please, could you tell me which is correct? Thank you! Emotion: smile
