Would need

Both teams have realised that the onus is too much on the respective duos, and they would need their remaining bowlers to shoulder greater responsibility in order to put up better performances and seizing the critical moments

Please explain the use of "would" in "would need..." as it has multiple meanings and rules.

If we replace it with "will", would it be still grammatical without changing the meaning?

You can look at it as a conditional sentence like if Mumbai Indians wants to win they would need Jasprit Bumrah with his best form. When you use will instead of would it makes Bumrah mandatory for MI in order to win this match.
