Would mean

Can I use “would” to show less certainty in a sentence? Like here is an example conversation.

Dan: Jennifer gets very irritated when I ask her about her boyfriend Rick. Rick responses the same way whenever I him about Jennifer.

Alex: It would mean that they are separated and probably not together.

Dan: Yea. I think the same.
