Would like to say it correct

Hello everybody!

Here's situation: I'm on a bus , there's some person i'm afraid of or just don't want him/her to stand beside me. And after I got off I'd say: "Thank God that I didn't see who was opposite me or else I would've been trembling all the way we were driving" I'm not sure highlighted parts are correct.

Hi, I wanted to say that I didn't tremble because I didn't notice that person. So, "would've been trembling" might be acceptable in that case but I'm not quite sure about it.
