Would like (to do) is a hypothetical sentence?

Teachers, I know this expression, "would like to do something", "would you like (to do something)?", is used for offer or invitataion, and I'm wondering if this is a hypothetical sentence. If it is, then what would be the "if" clause? Would it be "if I might"? or something? Thanks so much!
