would like (3)

1.You wrote:

He would have liked to have gathered the family together in one big reunion before he died. (Signifies who would organised/requested the event)

Why would organised/requested but not would organise/request ? Why?

2.You wrote:

June 1998:

I would like to bring the family together before I die. We should organise a party in June.

He died the next week, May :

It's a shame, he would have liked to have brought us together before he died.

Why May, but not July?

3. As we know:

He'd like to have done that.

(1) (2)

(2) is surely before (1).

So, please tell me again the difference btw: (I'm confused now)

a. He would have liked to have done sth.

(3) (4)

(4) is before (3) or (4) and (3) are simultaneous? If both, how can we to distinguish?

b. He would have liked to do sth.

(5) (6)

(6) is before (5) or (5) and (6) are simultaneous? If both, how can we to distinguish?
