Would Have vs. Would

Hello

Which of the sentences below is correct?
If both are possible, what's the difference? Which is more natural?

I immediately fixed the problem. Otherwise, it would cause a bigger problem.
I immediately fixed the problem. Otherwise, it would have caused a bigger problem.

I'm adding a similar example with the same questions as from my previous post, but here the problem was not yet fixed. The problem had to be fixed soon. Otherwise, it would cause a bigger problem.

With regard to my second example and let's say the problem was not fixed, don't you think 'would cause' is more correct?
