Could anyone tell me whether my understanding of "would have to" is correct or not ?
I am glad that everyone came to my home and submitted all the documents otherwise I would have to go and ask each one of you.
Would it be correct to say the phrase "would have to" is used in hypothetical sense?
Thanks
too finicky 7 I am glad that everyone came to my home and submitted all the documents otherwise I would have to go and ask each one of you. I'm glad that everyone came to my home to submit the documents; otherwise, I would have had to go and get them from each one of you separately. would have (to go) is hypothetical in the present, but you say that everyone came to your home (past), so you need the past hypothetical would have had (to go) .
