Would have to be ?

Is this sentence grammatically correct-

If Eron was asked what were the best days of his life , it would have to be his college days.

Thanks

It is a bit disjointed logically, but it is natural conversational English meaning that Eron would say that the best days of his life were those.

I'd say better English is:

If Eron was asked what were the best days of his life , they would have to be his college days.
