Grammar

would have fell?

quick question. is this correct?

http://youtu.be/lJwuKn0ZZxY?t=8m27s

this guy says: ''if he would have fell'', but is is incorrect to say ''would'' after ''if'' right. This guy is a native speaker, so I would think that is is correct, but it just doesn't make sense. (please open the link to the youtube video, it will automatically go to the right spot in the video)

thanks

Not all native speakers use the grammar that the style guides would like them to. The fact that this speaker uses 'fell' rather than 'fallen' as the third form (past participle) of FALL tells us that his English is not the finest. 'Correct' English is "If he had fallen".

The native speaker can often make mistakes. If he had fallen, he would have [ broken his neck ].
