Would do

During my study abroad, I would eat local foods and go traveling.
This sentence has neither a main clause nor a subordinate clause, but just only one clause. So it is not a hypothesis. Is it talking about something in the past or in the future? Under what circumstances, we say "We would" instead of "we did" or "We shall do" Thanks for comments.
