Would be OR will be

They have previously spoken of their distress that Miss Kercher had been "nearly forgotten" in the publicity surrounding Miss Knox's appeal and are expected to give a press conference later.

The prosecution is to appeal to Italy's highest court, although it appears unlikely that Miss Knox would be extradited back to Italy from the US.

An eight-member jury cleared both defendants of Miss Kercher's murder after doubts were raised over procedures used to gather DNA evidence.

You will read the word Miss Knox would be extradited back to Italy from the US.

As this is uncertain the verb 'would' is fine. I may be wrong.

However, the word 'unlikely' is already in the sentence so it is unnecessary to write 'would' here.

You can write the following:

The prosecution is to appeal to Italy's highest court, although it appears unlikely that Miss Knox will be extradited back to Italy from the US.

What do you think?

Thanks MalRey

To write 'unlikely' and 'would' border tautology.

That is my point.
