Grammar

Would appreciate it

Hi,

Which of the following would be grammatically correct for a teacher addressing their students in a classroom?
1.I'd appreciate it if I can have your attention.
2.I'd appreciate it if I could have your attention.
3.I'll appreciate it if I can have your attention.
4.I'll appreciate it if I could have your attention.

I'm sure that No.2 is correct because it's conditional type II, but I came across No.1 and No.3 on some sites. One comment said that using 'can' instead of 'could' in No.1 is possible because it proposes the idea of 'duration' .I need to be certain of this, besides the other forms .

Thank.

2 is correct Right. That's the only one I would use. 1 isn't too bad.

  • I would not use 3 or 4.
