00 00 00Growing up constantly being encouraged by both of my parents to pursue a degree in engineering, I often contemplate whether my lifelong interest on macroeconomic topics and banking system is a mere hobby or perhaps something that I could pursue as a career choice. Nevertheless, because of my lack of confidence, for the past two years of my college education, I decided to concentrate my study on something that I presume I am good at which happens to be mathematics, while at the same time enrolling in random economics courses that I am interested in. However, as I reach the end of my second year I am becoming more aware that studying economics is actually my ultimate passion considering that I’ve been spending more of my past times reading articles from Wall00 00Street journal and The Economist rather than doing proofs. 00 00 00There are lots of reason that I can come up with regarding why I have chosen to start over my education at Erasmus University over the option of staying for another two years at the University of Denver, however, if I am only allowed to narrow it down to one reason I would say it is because of the opportunity for research and enrolling in Erasmus’s graduate program that the International Bachelor of Liberal Arts program offers to most of its students after they complete their degree. Considering the current nature of our intricate financial system where there exist numerous back doors for financial intermediaries to optimize their asset liability management strategies such as; the existence expensive liabilities that can be used by banks at any given time, or crafty accounting techniques that would help manipulating any business institution’s portfolio, I strongly believe that nowadays a mere bachelor degree in economics or even a business degree can no longer be considered as a sufficient pedigree for anyone who are planning to take up a career in the financial system because there are still a lot of information that we still need to learn beyond the knowledge that we gained as an undergraduate student. Therefore, if I am fortunate enough to have this chance, after finishing my bachelor degree I would like to continue my education as a graduate student of Erasmus University School of Economics so that I would be able to further my knowledge in the study of asset- liability management.02br
